Snake River Energy

Snake River Energy's Project Details

Snake River Energy is a proposed utility-scale solar and battery storage project on Bureau of Land Management public lands in Gooding and Lincoln Counties.

When approved, the project will:

  • Generate up to 1,000 megawatts of solar energy
  • Include up to 1,000 megawatts of battery energy storage

Snake River Energy would connect to the Idaho Power transmission system near the existing Midpoint Substation in Jerome County.

  • The application boundary is for 14,000 acres
  • Based on coordination with the BLM and grazing permittee input, the project location of the solar facility is intentionally proposed some distance away from Shoshone and Highway 93 to reduce visibility from the Sawtooth Scenic Byway.
  • Primary access is proposed from U.S. Highway 26, with existing roads used where practical

Based on BLM and grazing permittee input, the project scope has been adjusted to move the solar facility farther from Shoshone and Highway 93 to reduce visibility from the Sawtooth Scenic Byway.

Snake River Energy will work with the BLM on a full environmental review, which, among other areas, will evaluate water, wildlife, grazing, vegetation, cultural resources, recreation, roads, traffic, views, and soils.
